Cerebrospinal Fluid Flow Extends To Peripheral Nerves Further Unifying The Nervous System
This study explores how cerebrospinal fluid, typically associated with the central nervous system (CNS), also circulates through the peripheral nervous system (PNS).
Researchers found that small particles, such as 1.9-nanometer gold nanoparticles, infused into the CSF, could travel from the CNS to peripheral nerves.
This discovery suggests that CSF plays a broader role in maintaining homeostasis throughout the entire nervous system, potentially impacting therapies and drug delivery for both CNS and PNS conditions​ (Science.org).
